About the family
Teresa and I brought up two children in Hong Kong, migrated to Toronto since 1991 when they were in Grades 8&9. Our daughter has married and has given us two grandchildren of ages 3 & 5, living 15 min away. Our adult children and son-in-law are fully involved in ministries at different evangelical Baptist churches.
We were sent by our home church to receive Seminary training in the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary of Louisville, KY, after our children had graduated from universities and were financially independent. IMB sent us to East Asia as Masters, co-sponsored by our home church from 2006-2009. After we completed our first term, we were asked to return to Canada.
About the Church Plant
Our current neighborhood in Richmond Hill has turned out to be a favoured community for young Mandarin speaking Chinese migrants, making up 25% of this community and 99% are atheists. Their dream is to give their young children opportunities to receive new cultures and worldviews, but the young parents (average age of 38) are at a loss as how to and what to teach their children. Prayer walking, block parties, family life study groups, seniors’ bus tours, neighbourhood BBQ, community service activities, Chinese festivals celebrations, fellowship at a local seniors home, home visitations for distribution of DVD/life testimony literature/ invitations to various activities have been our regular outreach activities.
Please join us in praying for…
-a partnering church to reach out to the Mandarin Chinese in Richmond Hill
-that God showers this people group His saving grace
-that we remain faithful to His calling and persevere
We are asking God for a young apprentice to reach out in English to children and young parents for six months or a year
There are numerous ways to help a church plant. Please refer to NAMB’s website for the official policy statement concerning providing for church plants.
